Climate Change

My Property Law professor recently gave an interview on an NPR station concerning Global Climate Change. For those of you interested in that topic I recommend having a listen in to see what she has to say.

I appreciate ALL comments, as this is a subject of no small interest to me.

Thanks and enjoy.

Oh, the interview is about an hour long or so. Take it at once if you can--it helps to keep the thought process clear and memorable.

Post Methodology

If you read the post date and time at the bottom of each post area you'll notice that the last few posts have been done at about the same time. That's probably for a couple reasons.

  1. I dislike reading really long posts, and I've been thinking of a few disjointed things I want to write about. Hence, multiple shorter posts.
  2. I probably want to have some kind of self gratification feeling that I'm significant enough to post frequently. I don't think this is helping that much.
  3. Studying is really slow right now, and I needed a break.
So, there you go.

RE:

The wife and I have been on a sweets free diet for about a month now. I'm not sure how I feel about it. To tell you the truth, I don't experience that surge of energy that most people who do this talk about. Maybe I don't eat enough "good stuff." Maybe I don't exercise enough. Maybe I'm just a great example of lethargy in action.

Been a while, but you haven't missed much

So, some time ago, I started a blog (not this one), showed it to my wife, and stood back as she took over the whole thing. So then I started a second blog (this one) hoping to have a place to express my thoughts--particularly about what I'm studying in school, and maybe some of my own personal experiences. It started out well, and I made about two posts. Then (now), several months later I'm back and finding that although I have actually lived over the past few months, not a whole lot has happened. At least, not much that my efficient wife hasn't documented in her blog. So, anyway, I'll end this post, as reading about nothing is unquestionably more boring than not reading about nothing.

Bussing

Ever since my bike was stolen last semester I have taken the bus (most of the time) to get to and from school. It's nice to see different people going about their business, whatever that might be. Yesterday evening, I was on a bus talking about an assignment with a classmate of mine, when two inebriated gentlemen chose to insert themselves into our conversation. Their intentions were seemingly complimentary, as the seeming leader of the two repeatedly called us professors, and other expletive ridden titles. Eventually the conversation turned, at my prompting, to the gentleman's interests. As it turns out, he is widely traveled (world-widely), and rather cunning in the fields of geology, cartography and topography. We talked for a few minutes about his favorite locations he had visited in the world. Among them were Anchorage, Alaska; Mazatlan, Mexico; and Rome, Italy. He was able to describe them in detail, and seemed to be sincere in his interest in them.

An interesting transformation occurred in him once we started talking about things he knew about. His demeanor became more serious, he took on an air of knowledge and spoke more soberly than he had thus far. At the conclusion of our transit we wished each other luck--He in his travels and I in my schooling.

I never got his name.

Christmas break

Seeing as how Christmas/new years break is over, I thought it appropriate to make some kind of notation about going back to school. I am kind of excited, but mostly, I think, because my grades were not quite what I hoped they would be and I am anxious to get them up.

Anyway, aside from sad news, here's a really cute picture of my wife and daughter. This makes me smile.

Ventilation

Ventilation is a beautiful thing. I have been rather stressed out recently with the approach of my first semester finals, and thought a place to rant would be nice. So, anyway, here it is. Ironically I don't really have anything to rant about--I'm really quite happy with the way things are going. I'm sure that a little time will give me ample material, once I start thinking of things in a more negative light--trying to see just how unjust the world really is toward me. I can't believe I haven't recognized it for this long.

For those of you who don't know, I'm at the University of Oregon right now attending law school. Hence the title of the blog. finals start next week, and I'm pushing really hard every day to keep my head above water. Probably an exercise in futility, but an exercise none the less. It'll be nice when this semester is over

I should probably disclaim that some or most of what I post on this blog may or may not be true. Sometimes it feels good to make stuff up, just to get my self esteem up.

Anyway, welcome to my blog.
